Libraries and Community: A Partnership Built on Support and Love
Libraries are more than just buildings filled with books—they are the heart of our communities. They provide a welcoming space for discovery, creativity, and connection. Whether you're borrowing your next great read, attending a workshop, or bringing your little ones to a story time session, your local library is here to serve you. But have you ever stopped to think about what keeps these vibrant spaces thriving?
Libraries thrive because of the love and support of their communities. Without visitors who borrow books, attend events, and engage with our programs, libraries wouldn’t be the essential hubs of learning and culture that they are today. And we feel your love in return—through your participation, thoughtful feedback, generous volunteering, and invaluable donations. This ongoing relationship between libraries and their communities is what allows us to continue offering enriching programs for all ages.
However, did you know that many of our most valued programs rely solely on external funding? Initiatives like Ageing with Creativity, Space to Create, and Family Focus are made possible through the generous support of individuals and organisations that believe in the power of community enrichment. Without this crucial backing, these initiatives wouldn’t be able to provide the same level of engagement and accessibility that makes them so special.
That’s why we need your help! If you have time, skills, or expertise you’d like to share, there are plenty of ways to get involved. Whether you're interested in volunteering, sponsoring a community initiative, or making a donation, your support can make a real difference. Every contribution—big or small—helps us continue offering the programs that bring our community together.
For more details on how our library is funded and why your support is so vital, visit our new Support Us page. There, you’ll find information on our campaigns, projects and ways to get involved - together, we can ensure that our library remains a thriving space for learning, creativity, and connection for years to come.
