Access to Technology
Free Wi-Fi is available in all our libraries. If you’d like to use a computer, you can speak with a staff member or reserve a PC online here (free library membership is required):
Need help getting to know a new device, or signing up for services like the NHS app? Our Computer Buddy volunteers are here to guide you. While they can’t fill out forms for you, they can offer step-by-step support. Please note that our volunteers may speak only English.
Resources in Your Language
Looking for physical books in your own language? Browse our Books in Other Languages
If you own a tablet or smartphone, the BorrowBox app allows you to easily check if there are eBook or audiobook titles available in your preferred language. Select either eBooks, eAudiobook or ePress at the bottom of the screen, then tap the ‘Languages’ menu in the top-right corner of the screen. You can also select an age group from the ‘All Ages’ drop down in the top-left corner of the screen.
We also offer dual language picture books in many languages in eBook as well as physical format, which can be reserved and delivered to your local Gloucestershire library.
There is a wonderful resource for eBooks and audiobooks in Ukrainian: https://ukraine.unlimitedlearning.io/ . You will need an email address, and will set a password to use the website or its app. A library staff member can guide you through this.
Language Learning
We have many resources to support language learning, from bilingual visual dictionaries to English learning guides. You'll also find books specially designed for emerging readers, including shorter and more accessible titles for adults. Search our catalogue or ask staff for assistance to find what you're looking for.
Along with our dual language picture books, wordless picture books are great for building vocabulary through discussion. Graphic novels are another helpful resource, as they combine visual storytelling with text to support comprehension.
Events & Community
Our libraries regularly host free events where you can meet others and get involved in the community.
- Parents connect at children’s events like Library Littles and Baby Bounce & Rhyme
- Grandparents explore new interests at Over 60s Groups
- Crafters and hobbyists share ideas at hands-on sessions
- See what’s happening near you or simply ask a staff member at your local branch.
A Welcoming Space
Libraries are open to everyone. You don’t need to buy anything to sit, study, use the toilet, or just relax. Our staff are always happy to help and can point you toward many other community resources.
Let us be part of your journey in the UK—whether you're looking to learn, connect, or just find a quiet space. You're always welcome at the library.
