The projects and activities that sit under our NPO are delivered in addition to core Library services. The key areas of development are split into three customer profiles: Early Years children and their families (Family Focus), over 60s (Ageing with Creativity) and younger people (Space to Create), specifically those not in education or limited access to creativity.
WHAT HAVE WE DONE:
Hosted two Family Festivals during October half term in 2024 and 2025. This is aimed and targeted at communities that have minimal/no engagement with libraries
Launched a summer library competition called the Library Challenge. This is an engaging way throughout the summer holidays to engage with children and their families. Themes of activity so far have included Music, Sport and Nature. 2026’s theme is set to be History.
Launched a new initiative called Library Littles in 30 of our 32 spaces
Launched three Library Choirs in three locations in Longlevens and Tuffley in Gloucester and Coleford in the Forest of Dean.
Intergeneration projects with customers engagement including a cookbook, an exhibition, a film about the Windrush generation
Built strong partnerships with key players in the country around dementia and what we can do as a service to support.
Hosted digital bootcamps in our Labs, working with younger people to create content. Teaching and developing skills in stop-motion-animation and 3D modelling
Started a partnership with Music Works to host Mix and Mash sessions in some of library spaces.
