Roots & Reflections Oral History Project
Thanks to a £95,000 grant from The National Lottery Heritage Fund, Gloucestershire Libraries are launching Roots and Reflections — a powerful new project capturing personal stories of local life and landscapes.
Roots and Reflections will celebrate Gloucestershire’s rich heritage, spark intergenerational conversations, and highlight the importance of place, identity, and inclusion. Public performances and digital resources will showcase the final work.
Take Part
Are you aged over 60 and have stories to share about your life in Tewkesbury or Cheltenham
Do you have cherished memories of your local area, its people, and the way life used to be?
Come and be part of history by sharing your stories in our Oral History Project Roots and Reflections made possible by The National Lottery Heritage Fund (thank you National Lottery players) designed to preserve the voices and experiences of our communities.
What’s Involved? Join us for a relaxed 45–60-minute conversation about:
· Local places and landmarks
· Community life, traditions, and events
· How your surroundings and society have changed over the years
Your interview will be digitally recorded with the support of our experienced facilitator. As part of the project, your story may be preserved at Gloucestershire Archive and creatively reinterpreted by local youth groups supported by The Roses Theatre, to celebrate the country’s rich heritage.
