Since becoming an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation (NPO) in 2023, Gloucestershire Libraries has been on an ambitious journey to transform library spaces into vibrant, creative hubs for everyone.
Rooted in local need and driven by community voices, our work champions innovation, inclusion and imagination. Through bold partnerships, dynamic programming, and a strong focus on priority places and under-served groups, we’re re-imagining what libraries can be - spaces where creativity, connection and communities thrive. The projects and activities that sit under our NPO are delivered in addition to core Library services, which are still delivered in our Libraries.
The Arts Council have committed to funding Gloucestershire Libraries as an NPO until 2028.
The board has been established since 2023 with some very skilled members who sit on the committee. We have audited the skills and identified areas that would strengthen the Advisory Board. The key aspects we will be seeking are Project Management, HR, Finance, Income and marketing/communications. We are seeking to recruit multiple vacant positions.
Project delivery and Project Management experience
We are seeking passionate and experienced Advisory Board members who can bring their project management, organisation and planning skills to our ambitious Arts Council funded programme at Gloucestershire Libraries. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving our delivery success by supporting the development team and assure the board that we are deriving maximum impact from our investment and partnerships. Specifically, we are looking for someone with experience within the arts sector who can translate investment and funding into detailed project plans, budgets, set objectives and monitor and evaluate progress against them. You will foster an environment of collaborative creativity and accountability across the team ensuring we continue with an ambitious but realistic programme of work to fulfil our Libraries’ strategy.
Human resources, finance and income generation
We are seeking a dynamic and strategic individual with a strong background in income generation, human resources and financial management, ideally within local government or a large, complex organisation.
As part of our NPO Board you will play a key role in providing support to the team by identifying and developing new income streams, managing financial performance, and supporting Human Resource processes. You’ll bring a commercial mindset, excellent analytical skills, and a collaborative approach to help us maximise value and deliver on our strategic priorities.
Marketing, Communications and Customer Engagement
Gloucestershire Libraries are seeking to recruit new creative and dynamic members to our advisory board. We are particularly individuals with expertise in marketing, communications, and customer engagement. This is a unique opportunity to help shape strategic direction, enhance outreach efforts, and ensure our messaging resonates with diverse audiences. If you have a passion for connecting with communities, crafting compelling narratives, and understanding audience behaviour, we’d love to hear from you. Your insights will play a vital role in guiding our initiatives and amplifying our impact.
