PressReader

PressReader provides unlimited access to more than 7,000 of the world’s top newspapers and magazines, including National UK Newspapers.

All titles can be read in their original print layout via a wide variety of devices, with no limit on downloads. You can also choose to listen to the content via the app or using a screenreader, or translate titles to/from other languages.

Download the PressReader app from your usual app store or using the PressReader download links. You can also read newspapers or eMagazines via the PressReader website.

Getting started

  • Select 'sign in'
  • Select 'library or group'
  • Type in 'Glou' and select Gloucestershire Libraries from the list
  • Enter the number printed on your library card or your online card number,  together with your PIN
  • Tick boxes to stay signed in and to agree that PressReader can verify registration with your library.

You will need need to sign back in with your library card and PIN every 30 days for users of the App, every three days for users of the website and users of the Hotspot (available in libraries only). Downloaded and bookmarked content will be retained.

Library card and pin number

You will need a Gloucestershire Libraries card with a number that starts with 77 or ONLINE, for example, 7712341234, 771234123x, or ONLINE3407.

If your card has a different pattern of numbering please contact your local library. 

Not a member or forgotten your pin?

If you are not yet a member of the library, you can join the library online, or pop in to your local library.

If you have forgotten your pin and have an email address registered on your account you can reset your pin online. If you have forgotten your library PIN and do not have an email address registered to your account, or have not used your library membership for a while, If your card has a different pattern of numbering, please contact your local library.

How do I sign in with a library card? 

  1. Select sign in
  2. Select libraries and groups
  3. Select/tap the 'library or group' list
  4. Type "Glouc" and select Gloucestershire Libraries from the list
  5. Select/tap the 'library or group' list
  6. Enter the number printed on your library card, then your PIN
  7. Tick yes to 'stay signed in' and to accept any terms and conditions

You will need need to sign back in with your library card and pin, every 30 days for users of the App and every three days for users of the website. Downloaded and bookmarked content will not be lost.

If you have a problem signing into PressReader, or you think you are signed in, but see a message about there being a cost to read a title (PressReader is always free when signed in with your library card). Please check the following:

  • do you need to download an updated version of the PressReader app?
  • is your device running a version of the operating system that is too old for PressReader? See the answer to 'minimum system requirements' below.
  • are you connected to the library Hotspot? Ask staff for assistance
